Deb’s “CLOUD” Bio

I’m currently teaching secondary Math (grades 8-10) at a Tech Immersion Program in Vancouver and studying part-time at the same time. This course is my 5th MET course (already!) and I’m planning to complete the MET program by April 2013. I use a variety of cloud-based applications as Math courses that I’m presently teaching are Tech Immersion. I’ve used WordPress since 2 years ago, Gloster, Google Doc, and Gmail. I’ve also used YouTube, Slideshare.net, Prezi, and Twitter.

I’ve also used iPhone applications such as Documents To Go. (I don’t know if it’s considered as a cloud-based app though…)

Facebook has also become handy as it has a “Notes” section to save my work. However, I don’t use FB very often as privacy and security become one of the biggest issues around cloud-based applications.

Moreover, uploading speed is another concern that I have. As these cloud-based apps are online, sometimes the uploading speed is not as fast as I acticipate. I’ve also experienced my computer suddenly being frozen and losing all the work I’ve done. One of the advantages for using cloud-based apps is that apps like WordPress and Googld Doc autosave my work every few seconds so that I can always go back to the work that I couldn’t complete.
